My Big Chilean Bucket List: What I Want to Do Before I Leave Chile

My Big Chilean Bucket List: Taking Santiago, Chile for Granted

So I’m off to Peru early tomorrow morning and I’m pretty excited. However, once I get back from Peru I have a lot of time to kill in Santiago and most of my friends here will be travelling. My friend Allison, however, will be here for most of the time that I’m in Santiago too and she said we should make a bucket list. Furthermore, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ve taken advantage of Santiago. I have complained about the fact that there is not a lake/ocean making it hard to cool off and I know I’ve complained about using the overcrowded metro… I think when you live in a place you often take it for granted. For example, Santiago has so many amazing museums here and I have been to a grand total of one of them. So I decided that as an avid lover of lists and bucket lists in particular, I would make a bucket list of things I’d like to do in Santiago before I leave. Without further ado, here is my big Chilean bucket list!

My Big Chilean Bucket List: Things to Do Before I Leave Chile

My Big Chilean Bucket List
Somewhere in Santiago, Chile

1. Go to as many museums as possible. Preferably on Sundays when they are cheaper/free

2. Go to as many old churches as possible

3. Hike Cerro San Cristobal again

4. Hike somewhere I haven’t been yet

5. Bike more

6. Visit the zoo

7.  Cook a Chilean meal

8. Go to the ballet

9. See a Spanish movie (not a dubbed one)

10. Take more salsa dancing classes

My Big Chilean Bucket List
Trying to stay warm at the Geysers del Tatio in Chile’s Atacama Desert.

11. Go to La Piojera (I think that’s what it’s called)… apparently they have the best Terremotos there (Chilean alcohol drink with ice cream).

12. Go back to Buffalo Waffles (they make waffle sandwiches that are basically to die for).

13. Go to Emporio La Rosa as much as possible (one of the best ice cream chains in the entire world).

14. Practice yoga at the cultural center (basically tonnes of dancers, musicians and artists go to this building with a beautiful courtyard to work on dances and just whatever they’re into and it’s a safe place for anyone to practice anything).

15. Go to Isla Negra and Pomaire.

16. Visit restaurants Uncle Fetch and Jewel of India (best burgers and Indian food in Santiago so I’ve heard).

17. Visit Pablo Neruda’s house.

18. Go to a soccer match! I can’t believe I haven’t done this yet here! Apparently they get super rowdy.

19. Visit Parque Bicentennial and Parque Las Esculturas.

20. Try pastel de choclo (one of the only Chilean dishes I haven’t tried yet).

That’s all I can think of right now but I’m sure the list will grow a bit. If you’ve been here before and have any ideas for what I should definitely not miss out on please let me know in the comments.
